Come get ready for the new season and dye your own winter accessories with marigold flowers while enjoying a Dia de Muertos celebration
Be ready for an immersive experience as you will learn how to dye protein fibers and learn the process from mordant to dye as taught to Maria by the artisans she works with in Oaxaca.
You will dye your purchased items using Marigold flowers, the flower of light.
In the morning we will begin the dye process and delight in oaxacan hot chocolate and Pan de Muerto from La Newyorkina , we will close in the late afternoon with refreshments and festive music while our newly dyed textiles dry by the bonfire.
What to bring?
Comfortable and warm clothes, event will be held outdoors.
How long is the event?
We will be at the North Brooklyn Farms from noon until 7pm.
We encourage participants to arrive between 12 - 2 pm for dyeing, after that you can leave and come back or you can stay all day long with us.
